Comments for this Competition

This month we’re stripping things back to their essence. Minimalism in photography is about saying more with less. It’s about creating clean, uncluttered images where every element has a purpose. Look for simple shapes, small subjects in big spaces, or strong lines and shadows that lead the viewer’s eye.
Try to keep your compositions open and uncluttered and pay close attention to negative space—the “empty” areas in your photo. You might photograph a lone tree in a field, a single shell on a wide beach, or one tiny person framed by a massive building. Alternately, you could fill the frame with a single subject, or part of the subject to tell the story with less. This is your chance to practice restraint and discover how powerful simplicity can be.
