The event will be held on October 6, 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
This meeting features two interactive sessions designed to help you become a more thoughtful photographer—both in how you evaluate images and how you present your own work.
Part 1: Commenting on Images
Constructive feedback is one of the most valuable ways photographers learn and improve. This session introduces a new approach to our themed image discussions.
This season, theme submissions will no longer be scored. Instead, the focus shifts to providing meaningful, respectful, and constructive comments that help photographers develop their skills and creative vision.
Together, we'll explore how to:
- Provide thoughtful, helpful feedback on members' images
- Identify the strengths of an image as well as opportunities for improvement
- Develop a framework for evaluating photographs
- Apply the same techniques to critically review your own work
Learning to see photographs with a more discerning eye is one of the fastest ways to grow as a photographer.
Part 2: Creating a Photographic Portfolio
Great photographers don't just create individual images—they create collections of photographs that work together.
In this session, we'll explore what makes a compelling photographic portfolio and why every photographer should consider building one. You'll learn how a carefully curated portfolio can communicate a personal vision, tell a story, or explore a theme in greater depth.
We'll discuss:
- What defines a photographic portfolio
- Selecting images that complement one another
- Creating visual consistency and flow
- Moving beyond individual "great shots" to a cohesive body of work
- Using a portfolio for exhibitions, competitions, presentations, or personal projects
Many photographers have hundreds of excellent images but have never considered how those photographs connect. This session will help you begin thinking about your photography as a body of work rather than a collection of individual images.
