Welcome to the New Westminster Photography Club

We are a group of photographers keen to improve our skills through club activities and involvement with other photography enthusiasts. Our members hold a wide range of photography interests and skills and member sharing is an ongoing aspect of the club. Most of our members are from the greater Metro Vancouver area, in British Columbia, Canada. Our club meetings are held in New Westminster, BC on the first and third Tuesdays, from September to early June (meetings vary in December and June). Some meetings are held in person and others using ZOOM or other platforms. Our club activities include educational programs through workshops and speakers, photography outings, and a range of internal and external photography competitions as well as exhibitions in the community.

Good Showing at the Black & White Print Challenge

For those of you who didn’t attend the Crescent Beach challenge, you will be pleased to know that the Club did well this year.  As a Club we came 7th of 11 Clubs.  This is a step forward over our ranking last year.  We had 6 strong entries, and our own Dee Thorson ranked 5th for her amazing image – Joy Dance.  Congratulations to Bruce Fairman, Paul LaRose, Quinton Friesen, Peter Eisenbock and Glenn Marcus for contributing to the Club’s excellent showing.  The images in the carousel are our 6 entries.

  • Jun 4Celebrating and Looking Forward – Last Meeting of the 2023/24 SeasonOur end-of season meeting will be a bit different this year.  The theme is one of celebrating our accomplishments over the last year and looking forward to the planning of the next season.  We are encouraging everyone to bring a favourite photographic creation – an image, a book, a zine to share. AND, instead of a full pot-luck dinner, we will be having a Pot-Luck Dessert Bar.  Of course, we will have our AGM component of the meeting with a financial report from our Treasurer, and the election of the executive.

A New SIG is Coming - Music Festivals

Another Special Interest Group is in the works for the summer.  Our Projectionist, Garfield James, is taking the lead in organizing the Music Fest SIG.  If you might be interested in getting together with other event and street photography enthusiasts and exploring some music festivals with friends, watch your email and Facebook for announcements.  AND, if you would like to help organize and / or have some ideas for festivals, please send a note to Garfield at: projectionist@nwphoto.org
