At the meeting on March 19, popular presenter, Rick Hulbert, reprised his extremely successful workshop on the "how" and "why" of making images in series. He spoke about stretching your photographic vision beyond a single image to thinking in series. Each photograph with its one meaning, but photographs that linked into a series creating power and meaning beyond that of a single photograph. At this presentation, Rick gave us a project, challenging us to think beyond the single image, and to create a series, Here is the challenge:
Challenge . . . a creative image series (Members should have received detailed instructions by email. If you didn't receive those instructions, reach out to Peter for a re-send. This is only a summary of the instructions.)
- Create an image series of a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 images. NOTE: the series should have a meaningful name, and each of the images in the series should have a unique name. You will submit your images to the faux competition that is open on the website.
- If you want your images to appear in a particular order, include a sequence number in your file name.
- You must also create a 100 - 200 word artist statement in a digitally editable format (such as Word) which you will send to Rick, directly.
- The deadline for submitting your images (to the website) and your artist statement (directly to Rick) is Saturday, April 27th.
At the meeting this evening, Rick will be reviewing and commenting on 15 of the projects that members have submitted. if you are interested in having your series reviewed, and plan to be at the meeting, send an email to Peter Eisenbock to be put on the list.
